Key Verse - And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art: Genesis 41:39

Civil & Social Life, Regal Government, Regal Authority in Egypt, To Appoint a Viceroy (governor of a country or place -- who rules as a rep of his king)

Genesis 39:1 -- And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and "Potiphar" an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian "bought" him of the hands of the Ishmeelites, which had brought him down thither.

Masters & Servants, Joseph sold twice

"Potiphar" -- Genesis 37:36 And the Midianites sold him into Egypt unto Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh's, & captain of the guard.

"bought" -- Genesis 37:28 Then there passed by Midianites merchantmen; & they drew & lifted Joseph out of the pit, & sold Joseph to the Ishmeelites for twenty pieces of silver: & they brought Joseph into Egypt.

(Real Life 101 -- God is in TOTAL Control at ALL TIMES -- What was meant for evil turned out for good ... keep digging ditches for other people to fall in)

Genesis 39:4 -- And Joseph "found" grace in his sight, & he served him: & he made him "overseer" over his house, & all that he had put into his hand.

Masters & Servants, Becomes Overseer

"found" -- Genesis 39:21 But the Lord was with Joseph, & shewed him mercy, & gave him "favour" in the sight of the keeper of the prison.

favour -- extended kindness

Works of God, God's Providence in Man's Temporal Affairs, Inclines the Heart of Men Toward His Servants

Question--Food for Thought .... Would you rather have God's favor or man's favor? The Lord was with Joseph. Now where was Joseph? Was he there unjustly?

Genesis 39:7 -- And it came to pass after these things, that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; & she said, "Lie" with me.

Civil & Social Life, Adultery, Temptation Resisted

(Real Life 101 -- Men Watch Out ... don't mess up a good thing at home .. the older people had a saying You don't miss your water until the well runs dry)

Genesis 41:25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31 -- Mediums & Methods of Revelation, Dreams & Their Intrepretations, Pharaoh's Dreams

Verse 25 -- And Joseph said unto Pharaoh, The dream of Pharaoh is one: "God" hath shewed Pharaoh what he is about to do.

God -- Daniel 2:28, 29

But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, & maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days.

Genesis 41:26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31

Verse 26 -- seven good kine are seven years; & the seven good ears are seven years: the dream is one.

seven -- complete

Verse 27 -- the seven thin & ill favoured kine that came up after them are seven years; & the seven empty ears blasted with the .... east ... wind shall be seven years of famine.

Question .. Food for Thought -- east ... How does the east relate to The Israelitish Tabernacle Gate?

The Tabernacle was a moveable building, the gate was on the east, east -- moving away from God, west -- searching, going towards God, enter at the east to come/approach God and go west.

Verse 28 -- What God is about to do he sheweth unto Pharaoh.

Question .. Food for Thought -- Was Pharaoh a man of God? Did Pharaoh believe & worship God like Joseph did? God does let the sun shine on the just and the unjust as well as rain on both.

Verse 29 -- There came seven years of great plenty throughout all the land of Egypt.

Verse 30 -- There shall arise after them seven years of famine; & all the plenty shall be forgotten in the land of Egypt; & the famine shall consume the land;

God showed this to Pharaoh ......... Are we in the season of plenty? Do we need a contigency - back up plan?

Verse 31 -- the plenty shall not be known in the land ... for it shall be very grievous.

grievous -- heavy

Verse 32 -- the dream was doubled to Pharaoh twice: it is because the thing is established by God, & God will surely bring it to pass.

Verse 33 -- Now therefore let Pharaoh look out a man discreet & wise, & set him over the land of Egypt.

Civil & Social Life, The Court, Overseers, Discretion & Integrity Required

Verses 34, 35, 36, 37 -- Industrial Employments & Products, Tilling The Ground, Famine in Egypt Provided For

Verse 34 -- Let Pharaoh do this, & let him appoint "officers" over the land .....

officers -- overseers

Verse 35 -- Let them gather all the food of those good years that come, & lay up corn under the hand of Pharaoh, & let them keep food in the cities.

Canned and dry foods usually have a good date for storing ... I wonder how many a,b,c have ample supplies stored up or how often do they set up drives for these items?

Save - Plan - Study - Invest

Verse 36 -- And that food shall be for store to the land against the seven years of famine ... that the land perish not through the famine.

Verse 37 -- the thing was good in the eyes of Pharaoh, & in the eyes of all his servants.

God provides for all ... righteous & unrighteous.

Verse 38,39, 40 -- Civil & Social Life, Regal Government, Regal Authority in Egypt, To Appoint a Viceroy (governor of a country or place -- who rules as a rep of his king)

Verse 38 -- And Pharaoh said unto his servants, can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is?

Verse 39 -- And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, there is none so discreet & wise as thou art:

Verse 40 -- Thou shalt be over my house .... only in the throne will I be greater than thou.

Pharaoh was serious .. he wanted to know was there a man of God who could handle this situation.

Question ... Food for Thought -- How many christians, those of the house of faith understand management, business & using 21st Century Technology? Ask God to give you Wisdom ..
