True Love of a Father
by: John Leach
There is a little story doing the rounds on the Internet (so forgive me if you have already read it) but it demonstrates very clearly just how our Heavenly Father IS NOT.
The story goes like this:
A boy asked his father, "How much do you make in a hour?
The father got mad and answered roughly, "Don't bother me." He was tired and irritable after a tough day at work, but the boy insisted. "Please, how much do you make?"
The father said in a bad tone of voice, "$8.00 dollars for now."
Then his son asked, "Father can you loan me four dollars?"
The father said to him in a bad way, "I told you not to bother me, shut up and go to your room!"
At bedtime the father was more calmed and felt bad about the way he treated his son. He went upstairs to his son's room and asked, "Are you asleep?" And he gave to the boy the four dollars that he asked for.
The boy thanked his father, put his hand under his pillow, pulled out four crumpled dollars, and said, "I have $8.00 dollars, father, could I buy one hour of your time."
The story is pitiful but it sums up succinctly just how some people view family life.
But contrast this little article against our Heavenly Father.
- He is always there for us, waiting to be with us more eagerly than we to be with Him.
- He delights in fellowship with us.
- He anticipates our every need.
- He runs to meet us long before we even acknowledge His presence.
Unfortunately many people judge our Heavenly Father by their poor memories of their own human father.
This is indeed a great pity and is an example of how one person's sin is handed down from one generation to another.
Our God is the perfect Father.
His love is perfect.
His care is perfect.
Put away the memories and look into the face of Jesus.
JUST A MINUTE key point: For God so loved the world, that He gave His only-begotten Son, so that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16). That's the actions of a loving Father.
